CMS 52-Week 5K Series Race #48

Worcester State College
Worcester, MA
November 22, 2003
Joe Alfano

On the day that this 5K was run, the weather was unseasonably warm! Little did we know that Worcester would have a blizzard just two weeks later?... Nah, everyone probably suspected it.

This week's race was won by Stephen Gemme in a time of 18:04. His last name looks a little like "genome" if you read it too fast.

The winner of the women's race was the defending champ Barbara McManus in 18:24, with Nancy Roberts picking up the ladies' masters prize.

And who was the quickest of the tourists from out-of-state? It wasn't Tom Carroll (San Diego) or Hugh O'Malley (Jacksonville), but Josh Meloche from Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Josh outpaced his grandparents Mike and Judy Sikorski, even though he's been running for less than two years. [CMS Farm Team, take note!]
