Last week, the action was in the women's veteran division between CMS'ers Marilou Crohan and Phyllis Brooks. This week, CMS'ers Pat Wojtas of Chelmsford and Pat Vaillette of Leominster had the crowds on pins and needles as they competed for the women's senior division title. Needless to say Pat won! Which Pat you ask? If you're going to be a stickler for details, Wojtas edged out Vaillette by 3 seconds in this nail-biter. Greg Ward of Holden stopped by, mapped out the course, did his warm-up and when the starting gun was sounded, he proceeded to light up the course in a scorching time of 17:05. Second place finisher, CMS'er John Kinnee of Harvard, might've been a contender had it not been for going out a shade too quick at the start. Nonetheless, John's time of 17:46 was most impressive. First master and third place overall was none other than CMS'er Bob Johnson who finished in a time of 18:20. The CMS family wishes Bob the best of luck when he heads out later this month to compete in the Hawaiian Iron Man. First female and fourth place overall, was Barbara McManus posting a smokin' time of 18:29. As a sidebar, back on July 9th, Barbara also happened to set the women's CMS/OHAC series course record for the year by running a blazing 18:05! First senior was CMS'er Charlie Salmond, who closed out the 2003 OHAC race series by lowering his time once again by posting a time of 18:46. CMS'er Anthony Koroskenyi again took home the award for first junior and placed 12th overall by logging in a time of 20:07. First female master was Lori Hennessey of Westford in a time of 21:06 and first veteran was CMS'er Bernie Jensen in a time of 23:56. |
