This week's big news is that CMS/OHAC race series family put in their orders for next week's pizza party. Next week is the final week at Orchard Hills before the series does its annual migration south for the winter to Worcester State College. Gizmo will be checking everyone next week to ensure all runners brought along feedbags and an appetite for the annual CMS post-race pizza party. "Where there's smoke there's fire," and this week the smoke was coming from the women's veterans division and the fire could be seen on Phyllis Brooks' and Marilou Crohan's running shoes. Marilou ran well under the 40 minute mark and ran a personal best of 38:19. Phyllis though was "feeling it" and came in 38:16, 3 seconds under Marilou's time. Phyllis celebrated her 73rd birthday by setting a 2003 personal record for the OHAC course and winning the female veterans division. Hats off to both Marilou and Phyllis for having a great night at the races! |

Mighty Mike Thornton per the usual ran another sub-eighteen this week and came in first place in a time of 17:49. Mike's triathlon partner in crime Bob Johnson took second place overall and 1st master by running a time of 18:37 and Pat McCormick, treating a recent minor running injury, placed the pain on the back burner and ran a strong 18:44 to take third place overall. Charlie Salmond, trying not to rush his injury recovery progress, has been gradually dropping his 5K times back closer and closer to his 2002 5K times. In this week's race, not only did he capture the men's senior division but he also did his first sub-19 minute (18:53) performance of the 2003 OHAC series. Again this week, Anthony Koroskenyi took the junior division by running a time of 20:05, barely missing the ever-elusive mark of 20:00. 1st female overall (and 1st female master) was the always-smiling speedster Darlene Murray. Darlene annihilated last week's 2-year PR by shaving off another 7 seconds and posting a time of 21:43. Pat Wojtas won the female senior division in a time of 30:30. |
