This week's CMS family in the spotlight is the Thornton family from Harvard. It isn't because little Matthew was nursing a slight finger injury, but because his parents Lynn and Mike both ran personal bests. For Lynn, it was the second consecutive week achieving this feat by lowering last week's time 17 seconds from 24:35 down to 24:18. For Mike, he quite impressively posted his first sub-18 minute performance (though not official since Mike allowed the rest of the runners a 2 minute head start before lighting up the burners).

The winner of this week's race was Paul Noone who grabbed his crown back from Andy McCarron by posting his 3rd straight sub-17 week. Andy took the second slot in a time of 17:01. Matt DePari is making a nice comeback by recording a most respectable 17:47 finishing time and taking 3rd place.

First female honors went to Karen Palmer who came down from Fitchburg to run a strong race with a time of 20:46. Pat McCormick took the masters division in a time of 18:27. First senior was Charlie Salmond who, slowly coming around from a running injury, "jogged" to a 20:17 showing.

First veteran honors went to Bernie Jensen of Bolton in a time of 24:24. First female master was Evelyn Dolan, also of Bolton, who did her first sub-26 minute 5k performance since the beginning of the year. Rounding out the awards was first female senior, Pat Wojtas of Chelmsford, who didn't have her five cent label fee so she had to slightly notch back her pace in order to keep her name tag dry and in excellent working order.
