Another fine summer night to lace up the running shoes and clean out the ol' carburetor of a runner's soul.

Paul Noone III (not to be confused with Paul Noone Jr., his father, one of Worcester's Finest, who also ran the race) came back to defend his OHAC crown won at last week's race. Andy McCarron though had other ideas and so they slugged it out until the very end with Andy taking the win on the final leg of the downhill finish in a time of 16:52. Paul Noone did however take first in the junior divison in a time of 16:53.

Lynn Thornton of Harvard had a personal best with an impressive time of 24:35 and Aidan Kearney shaved another 11 seconds off of last week's sub-20 performance. All the way from Lake Jackson, Texas, representing his running club the Tornados, Kevin Regis put in a stellar performance barely missing taking the masters division which was won by none other than Bob Johnson in a time of 18:28.

1st woman across the line was Stephanie Hunt from Shirley and also the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country team; she finished in a time of 20:24. Only 3 seconds behind her was Deb Willard-Parker who captured the female masters division. Jim Daley was the first veteran to cross the finish line in a time of 20:34, with Charlie Salmond the first senior finisher a mere 4 seconds behind Jim.

The most rewarding moment of the night though may have been to see David King of Ayer crossing the finish line in one piece. Earlier in the week, a situation arose which could have jeopardized his plans of running in the Marine Corps Marathon this fall.

While out for his long run, David was blindsided by a chipmunk which appeared out of nowhere and clung to his ankle until David was able to free himself of the chipmunk's deadly grip. Somehow, in the scuffle, his furry attacker was able to get David to the ground before disappearing back into the woods in wait for the next unsuspecting runner to pass.
