CMS 52-Week 5K Series Race #27

Orchard Hills Athletic Club
Lancaster, MA
July 2, 2003
Steve Veach

The big story this week was the Clark family which saw the mother and son duo sweeping the first female and first male spots.

Matt Clark of Worcester broke the tape at the 16:52 mark just ahead of fellow UMass track teammate Andy McCarron of Lunenburg who took second in a time of 17:09.

Although Matt definitely does bust his hump in his training regimen there is also a bit of genetics at play here as well. Matt's mother, Pat Clark of Worcester, was the first female to come across the finish line in an impressive time of 22:23.

Other runners not sporting the Clark family genes, but who won their divisions nonetheless were: 1st master - John Kelley; 1st senior - Charlie Salmond; 1st veteran - Art French; 1st female senior - Pat "Nickel" Wojtas; and 1st female veteran - Marilou Crohan.
