The 52-Week 5K Series returned from summer vacation this week. The weather was very pleasant for running, and Jim Shope Sr. shared a bowl of black raspberries he'd picked earlier that day.

Several runners told me they were taking it easy today, but I think they're fibbing. Andy McCarron and Danny Savukoski both finished the race in a speedy 17:00 (give or take a few seconds). And Barbara McManus (18:35) won the ladies race by a quarter-mile.

News item: Coach Mark Perrone is conducting track workouts at Fitchburg State College, Tuesday evenings at 6:30. Everyone is welcome to attend.
