A rather sparse turnout for tonight's Orchard Hills 5K race, what with the heat and humidity, the threat of thunderstorms, and the Paxton "Summer Solstice" race taking place at the same time! 21 hardy souls showed up, and everyone finished before the stormclouds rolled in.

Dave Burgess made easy work of the course, winning in a time of 16:49. Brad Fors extended his streak of top-2 finishes (in the Orchard Hills series), placing in 17:45. And the show horse was John Kelley, with a respectable 18:09.

The winners of the class prizes this week were all familiar names: Gennaro Conte was the first master, Bob Girouard the first senior, Nick Seretto the first junior, and Jayna McCarron the first lady. Eddie Gallivan scored a double as the first veteran runner and the winner of this week's random draw.

Where is ...?

For the past several weeks, participants in the 52-Week series have been asking me the same question: "Where's Jan MacNamara?" Well I'm happy to report that everyone's favorite volunteer hasn't disappeared from the face of the earth. Jan is on a special 6-week assignment, and if I understand her correctly, the details involve Intelligence and computers. Now I'm not about to speculate whether her project is sponsored by the CIA, the NSA, or some covert organization (friend or foe). All I can say with certainty is that Jan's assignment should be completed by July 4th, and you can all welcome her back to the 52-Week series at that time.
