"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco" - attributed to Mark Twain.

Several old friends of the summer 5K series stopped by for tonight's race, including Pat Wojtas who flew in from San Francisco. Pat brought the infamous San Francisco weather along: cold temps and steady wind, ominous clouds and sporadic downpours.

College kiddie Matt DePari had no problem with these conditions, and won the race easily in 17:00. Brad Fors and Kevin McCusker finished 2-3, a reversal of their order of finish last week. The first veteran runner was Jim Daley; Kristen Kilpatrick the first lady.

Nick Seretto won the juniors' race in 19:24. Since the start of the season Nick's 5K times at Orchard Hills have improved by an average of 19 seconds per week. If my arithmetic is correct, Nick is scheduled to break Haile Gebrselassie's world record (12:39.36) just in time for Winter Track.

The CMS Members Race is June 13! (Please make a note of it.)
