The Summer 2000 season of the 52-Week 5K series concluded today much like it began, with Ken Carabba taking first place in 18:05 -- just ten seconds off his winning time in the April 5 race, 26 weeks ago. Master runners Roger Nasatka and Charlie Salmond finished close behind in second and third places respectively, and Judy Sikorski was first female.
The 5K was followed by a post-race pizza party, and each of the runners and volunteers in attendance picked up a random draw t-shirt, singlet, or bucket hat. Many thanks to Tim Richards and the Orchard Hills Athletic Club for hosting the summer series at their fine facility.
The Winter 2000-01 season of the 52-Week 5K series begins this Saturday, October 7, at Worcester State College at 9am. (The races will take place there every Saturday through April 2001.) That's a wrap!
